Our Team

Tori McConnell (Yurok/Karuk) is an enrolled member of the Yurok Tribe and a recent Miss Indian World (2023-24).Tori was born and raised in an all-Yurok/Karuk household in Humboldt County, CA where she grew into an artist, musician, traditional basket weaver, singer, Indigenous language advocate and Indigenous foods practitioner. Tori received her Bachelor’s degree from UC Davis in 2021 and is currently completing a Master’s degree in Cal Poly Humboldt’s Environment and Community graduate program. She is concurrently working as Fire Coordinator at the university; her role at Youth Forward is the Tribal Policy Advocate. Within this role, she works statewide with Youth Forwards Tribal partners to access Prop.64 funds and has a focus on land restoration funding for tribal communities statewide.
